From Empty Shelves to Endless Possibilities

The first thing you notice about Heaven Tiles isn’t just the gleam of ceramics, it’s the quiet determination of its founder, Florence Mawia. After eight years of employment, she finally decided to step out on her own and build something lasting.

Her path into entrepreneurship began long before Heaven Tiles. From a young age, she watched her parents run their businesses, seeing firsthand the resilience it took to build from the ground up. That early exposure planted a seed within her: a conviction that with hard work and ownership, she too could create something meaningful.

But the start looked nothing like the dream. “Starting wasn’t easy,” Florence recalls with a wry smile. The shelves were half-empty, the silence between customers almost unbearable. To fight back despair, she created a quiet ritual a daily promise to herself: Today, I will be ready for my luck to change.

To take her chance, she risked it all. A plot of land, sold. A lifetime’s savings, spent. KSh 1.1 million invested in stock, paint, and displays. It was more than money; it was belief. “It was a big risk,” she says, “but I believed in myself.” What she couldn’t buy, however, was certainty.

Then came a break. A friend in the same business mentioned the new credit line that’s supported by tabb. Curious, Florence explored it with her bank, and everything shifted. “With the credit line,” she explains, “the question is no longer ‘can I?’ but ‘how many?’”

A client needing KSh 600,000 worth of tiles when she only had KSh 100,000 in stock was no longer a threat, it became a promise. “This credit line bridges the gap. It turns a missed sale into a kept client.”

The transformation was profound. Orders flowed more smoothly. Suppliers were paid on time. Customers got what they needed without delays. And for Florence, the biggest change was invisible but priceless. “The stress that once followed me home now stays at the shop. I can focus on my young family, knowing the business stands on a solid foundation.”

Her vision now stretches far beyond a single shop. She sees multiple outlets across Kenya, serving communities and building a trusted legacy. She sees her son one day stepping into something strong, something unshakable, something built to last.

“Every tile I lay and every order I fulfill is more than a transaction,” she reflects. “It’s proof that I was born to build. And with tabb, I’m building beyond limits.”
